Cars 2 Trailer and Pictures

Woo hoo! Pixar has just released the Cars 2 trailer along with new pictures from the movie! I always have high expectations of Pixar movies, and they always deliver. My dirty little secret is that I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Cars movie. I’m hoping they do a better job on the second installment, because I think Monsters Inc. definitely deserves a sequel more than Cars does! Here’s the synopsis of Cars 2:

“Star racecar Lightning McQueen and tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix, racing for the title of the world’s fastest car. But the road to the race detours when Mater gets caught up in international espionage. He finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen and towing the line in a top-secret mission. Mater’s journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. The fast-paced fun includes a colorful new all-car cast, complete with menacing villains and international racing competitors.”

Voice talent appearing in the movie include Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Cheech Marin and Pixar mainstay Bonnie Hunt.

Toy Story 3 Coloring Pages

I doubt any of us thought that there would ever be a Toy Story 3. And knowing Pixar, that is a LOT to live up to. There are a whole bunch of new Toy Story characters, Dolly the doll, Mr. Pricklepants the porcupine, Lot’s-o-Huggin Bear teddy bear, Buttercup the unicorn, Sparks the robot, Trixie the rhino, Twitch the super-hero bug, and Stretch the octopus. I was able to draw up pictures of most of them for our new Toy Story coloring pages.

The animated movies coming out this summer are just awesome this year! I love the perpetual Pixar-Dreamworks rivalry, mostly because that means they are both constantly putting out amazing stuff to try and outdo each other. This just means we get more great stuff to watch!

I’m always, always excited when Disney puts out another full length feature cartoon movie. I honestly can’t believe that they haven’t made a movie out of the Rapunzel story before! I’m glad they waited – these days their heroines are much stronger and smarter role models than their classic characters. I can’t wait to see how fiesty their newest princess turns out! Though rumor has it that the new Rapunzel movie due out in late 2010 will be named “Tangled” so that boys might be willing to go see it as well.
