I decided to put together some Disney Christmas coloring pages after the runaway success of our Disney pumpkin stencils this Halloween. They were a lot more time consuming to make than I anticipated (I started them yesterday!). But I think they were totally worth it. Disney at Christmastime is such a magical place – and their characters sure know how to bring it during the holidays!

The Lion King: Early Character Sketches and Storyboard Art

Simba, Timon and Pumba Early Color Storyboard

I am always thrilled when Disney releases early concept art like this to promote their new releases!! The Lion King (now in 3D!) is coming out this Friday September 16 for only two weeks in theaters, then after that will be released on DVD October 4th.

This Disney movie holds a special place in my heart – it was first released in 1994, the same year I first became a mom. Plus, the Lion King story is just so moving and wonderful – classic Disney storytelling at its finest. I’ve been given permission to post these amazing early sketches when they were developing the Lion King characters, storyboard, and poster art. Enjoy!

How to Draw Bambi and Thumper

Bambi has always been one of my absolute favorite Disney characters, and I am beyond excited that it is coming out on a special edition DVD this week! I’m totally buying it. Disney has provided me with these incredible printables to pass along to you to commemorate the DVD release. Here are diagrams on how to draw Bambi and Thumper, his adorable bunny sidekick. There are also two printable picture frames for little artists to feature their work!

Cars 2 Trailer and Pictures

Woo hoo! Pixar has just released the Cars 2 trailer along with new pictures from the movie! I always have high expectations of Pixar movies, and they always deliver. My dirty little secret is that I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Cars movie. I’m hoping they do a better job on the second installment, because I think Monsters Inc. definitely deserves a sequel more than Cars does! Here’s the synopsis of Cars 2:

“Star racecar Lightning McQueen and tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix, racing for the title of the world’s fastest car. But the road to the race detours when Mater gets caught up in international espionage. He finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen and towing the line in a top-secret mission. Mater’s journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. The fast-paced fun includes a colorful new all-car cast, complete with menacing villains and international racing competitors.”

Voice talent appearing in the movie include Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Cheech Marin and Pixar mainstay Bonnie Hunt.

Disney Christmas Activities from Santa Paws

Disney’s releasing a new Christmas DVD – Santa Paws, from the creator of Santa Buddies. This seems like the type of movie perfect for little kids to watch over and over again as they get excited for the holidays. Disney has provided us at Cartoon Jr with some awesome printable Christmas activities to celebrate the DVD release on November 23. There is a paw-print stocking to make, a puppy ornament craft, candy-cane dog biscuits to bake and a cute ‘naughty or nice’ quiz to print.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue Printables

Last week Disney flew me out to their studios in California for a sneak peek at the brand new Tinker Bell movie – Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue. I was with a tiny group of only 15 other moms, and the trip was truly unforgettable! Not only did we get a private screening of the movie, but we also got to meet the director, producer, art director and character animator. I even got to go onto their computer and animate Tinker Bell myself! I swear that ranks up there with being on the Today Show last year!

I have some more cool Tink content I’m going to post soon, but I found these printables on the Tinker Bell Facebook fan page, and wanted to share them with our Cartoon Jr. readers.

Phineas and Ferb Coloring Pages

My kids are avid fans of the Disney Channel show Phineas and Ferb – and I can hardly blame them. Dr. Doofenshmirtz is seriously my most favorite Disney Villain of ALL TIME. He is absolutely hysterical! He completely makes this show worth watching – yes, I admit I am an adult and am probably too old for cartoons – shush!

Toy Story 3 Coloring Pages

I doubt any of us thought that there would ever be a Toy Story 3. And knowing Pixar, that is a LOT to live up to. There are a whole bunch of new Toy Story characters, Dolly the doll, Mr. Pricklepants the porcupine, Lot’s-o-Huggin Bear teddy bear, Buttercup the unicorn, Sparks the robot, Trixie the rhino, Twitch the super-hero bug, and Stretch the octopus. I was able to draw up pictures of most of them for our new Toy Story coloring pages.

The animated movies coming out this summer are just awesome this year! I love the perpetual Pixar-Dreamworks rivalry, mostly because that means they are both constantly putting out amazing stuff to try and outdo each other. This just means we get more great stuff to watch!
